News Snippets: Tarkan's Beat Points

Posted by Steffan Matrak from Moscow, Russia and Hatice Soylu from Istanbul, Turkey

The megastar's current music label exec Samsun Demir tweeted yesterday that Tarkan's track "Kedi Gibi" would be "coming soon".

Last June, claims on entertainment channels had circulated that the pop icon had returned to Istanbul for two days from Germany, during which time he was planning to film a fourth video release off his 2017 album 10 to "Kedi Gibi" - although Tarkan's team had reportedly denied the rumours.

Demir does not expressly mention a music video, but it is assumed that either a video or remix release is in the works.

In other news snippets, while music artists are following Tarkan's lead with TV spots advertising their new releases, on the back of recent claims that Tarkan was preparing to put his life story on the big screen, one columnist wonders what the beat points of the movie would be.

The columnist asks whether the film would deal with Tarkan's close call accidents, his relocation to Turkey from Germany as a young teen with his family, or the story behind one of the cornerstones of Turkish pop, how his highly acclaimed 2001 album Karma was made.

The columnist ends with the hope that the rumours are true, as such a movie could "break box office records" in Turkey and would document straight from the source a life more fantastic than fiction.

And elsewhere, news reports claim that a tribute album Tarkan removed himself from at the last minute has beaten recent sales records - including his own 2017 release.

It was reported that Tarkan would no longer feature on music buddy Yıldız Tilbe's tribute album after much stalling. The album has now reportedly sold more than 400,000 units, including traditional sales, in 3 months than Tarkan's latest offering has sold in a year.

Meanwhile, in family news, an astrologer's claims from last May have resurfaced over Tarkan welcoming a second child - this time a baby boy.

Finally, the Turkish press says Tarkan has bought his wife a house in Germany as a present after giving birth, with renovations on his Istanbul estate going on with "great secrecy" as the family are expected to return to Turkey in September.
