Turkey's Only Real Star

Posted by Steffan Matrak from Moscow, Russia

The Sabah paper correspondent Yüksel Aytuğ has written a piece about Tarkan's recent shopping mall show for major department store Vadistanbul AVM, where it was reported that 12 thousand people filled a constructed concert space as big as the White House.

Noting that the audience were too busy filming the megastar on their phones to applaud, Aytuğ also stressed that the Turkish pop is a true icon for his amazing power over stage and song. The journalist described the singer as an athlete, who obviously worked hard to keep his musical prowess pitch perfect in his live performances.

Undeniably the best in his field, Aytuğ also confessed that, while not being an ardent fan, Tarkan's classics were still unbeatable - even by the singer's own standards today.

Carrying on with his observations from the 12 May show, the Sabah correspondent said that Tarkan is "possibly Turkey's only real star".

And in other news, as Tarkan awaits the arrival of his first child, an Instagram celebrity says she is "devastated" over the news the singer is to be a dad, while an astrologer is claiming that there is a second child in the stars for Tarkan.

Meanwhile, the Turkish version of veteran reality series Survivor likened a losing contestant to the singer.

Kicking up sand in disgust after a defeat, the Survivor contestant reminded observers of the megastar's own footwork amongst the sand dunes in his classic hit "Kuzu Kuzu" (Karma, 2001).

Continuing on with Tarkan's classic music videos, social platform Onedio has asked where one of Tarkan's old co-stars is now. The article reveals that an actress once in the enviable position of puckering up to Tarkan, has left the entertainment industry for social media management.

In "Hüp" (Karma, 2001), actress Sinemis Candemir had been envied by millions of women in her role of Tarkan's bereaved soul mate, but now, after some successful years as a model and actress, she has moved out of the limelight and into greener digital pastures.

Listing her achievements in the digital arena, the article says that Candemir has been out of the public eye since 2010, but would always be remembered as the woman who shared "that kiss" with Turkish pop's megastar.
