Getting Fresh with Tarkan
A media portal has run with a story published previously about the rumour that Tarkan's music production company HITT and Turkish pop singer/songwriter Serdar Ortaç will be working together in a deal with the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) for its weekly lottery show (see left pic).
Headlined as "Tarkan has Become Serdar's Boss", the article claims that Tarkan personally asked for Ortaç, speculating whether "the top names of Turkish pop" would be collaborating in future projects.
And covering previous news stories elsewhere, a gossip columnist takes Tarkan to task over giving special concerts for wealthy friends, suggesting this demeans his celebrity status and that he should stick to performing nationwide tours, while expressing excitement at his upcoming appearance at a gig in the coastal town of Çeşme.
As musicians from Turkey and around the world flock to rock the stage in Çeşme, one of Izmir's most popular resort towns, at the annual 20th Çeşme Water Sports Festival from June 29 to July 4, the countdown has begun for Tarkan's arrival this Saturday.
The festival, sponsored by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, the Çeşme Municipality, Ege TV and Radio Ege, will feature exhibitions, swimming races, concerts and cocktail parties, ending with the International Çeşme Music Contest.
Music Collaborations Update
Finally as new pop act Emir's Tarkan track "Ben Sen Olamam" (I Can't Be You) shoots up nine places to take 13th position in the Billboard charts this week (pictured left), paper Sabah reports that Turkish DJ Hüseyin Karadayı, who collaborated with Tarkan on his Metamorfoz reissue and remixed the artist's songs before, has reworked an instrumental version of the pop star's "Kuzu Kuzu" (Karma, 2001) with the help of one-time Tarkan guitarist Ayhan Günyıl in his fifth release Fresh (2009).
