Kral Show Report Back Online

By Adelind Osmanlı reporting from Munich, Germany

Screencap of reportMedia portal Haberturk has put back up the article it had previously removed about the rumours that Tarkan is set to make an appearance at Turkish music station Kral TV's 16th annual video and music awards ceremony on 17 May (see left pic).

A day after the news broke Haberturk had removed the article from its site, while Kral TV had run a TV news spot on the back of the article, which had only been aired twice on last Friday.

A representative at Haberturk contacted Tarkan Deluxe to explain that the reason the page had been inaccessible was due to the media portal constructing its new variety section HTMagazin, while a worker at Kral TV - and a Tarkan fan - emailed the blog to explain about the policy behind their news items.

She explained that it was station policy to replay TV news spots only twice a day, which is replaced by a new slot every day, and that if Tarkan does agree to appear at the TV station's annual award ceremony, the necessary ad promos will run continuously at the channel to the countdown to the event.

However, official sources still cannot confirm whether the artist will in fact be making an appearance, and the official site to Tarkan's music company HITT - which is organising the event - still carries no update as to this, or any confirmation of an appearance by Tarkan at time of going to press.

Rumours of a Tarkan appearance last year had surrounded the 15th Kral TV VMA event - one of the largest and reputable VMA ceremonies the Turkish music industry has - which sees a mix of categories elected by public and special jury vote to decide the year's most successful names in Turkish music.

With less than a month to go before the annual ceremony, if Tarkan decides to make an appearance it will be touted as the singer's first appearance since his arrest in March following an anti-drug sting.
