Tarkan: The Original Version
Following on from the confirmation that Tarkan would no longer feature on the two volume compilation of Tilbe classics, the new release sees 39 artists cover songs spanning across three decades. Semercioğlu, however, is of the opinion that it has made for a crowded tribute, and that "less is more".
For example, the Tilbe penned hit track from Tarkan's second album A-acayipsin (1994), "Kış Güneşi" (Winter Sun) has been covered twice by two different artists on the album. Previously, news wires had published stories of a spat between Niran Ünsal and Hande Yener over the song, with Ünsal posting a response on social media to confirm that Tilbe had given her the go ahead to record the song for the album.
Tarkan lyricist Günay Çoban had even waded into the argument by applauding the decision for the song to go to Ünsal, rather than Yener - who had become more known for her polemics than her pop music. In the end, Tilbe left both versions in her album.
In other news, another singer's rendition of a Tarkan classic has made the headlines - this time on stage. A celebrity portal has shared a video of popstress Hadise on stage in Baku, Azerbaijan, singing "Hepsi Senin mi?" (a.k.a Şıkıdım from A-acayipsin, 1994).The portal asks its readers to watch the video and make up their own minds about Hadise's attempt at a classic.
Finally, the current gossip about Tarkan and his wife is that the couple have opted for a "normal birthing" and that they will not be employing a nanny for the first year, preferring "hands on" parenting after the arrival of their firstborn.
