More Tarkan News Updates in Brief
Updates to the news of a Tarkan concert on 3 October in the northern Turkish territories of the island of Cyprus have been published by northern Cypriot paper KIBRIS (pictured left).
Set to appear in the divided island's capital Nicosia at its Ataturk Stadium for a concert next month, the article writes that the island is gearing up for the famous popstar's arrival - which is said to include Tarkan's own convoy of seventy people for the show.
A special team of trucks will be making its way to the island for what promises to be a special extravaganza, notes KIBRIS, with tickets going on sale this Friday.
Tarkan's Cyprus outing has been met with some criticism, however, with a correspondent from the paper commenting last month that the money spent to bring Tarkan to the island could have been better used elsewhere.
But with proceeds going to a local children's cancer charity, the paper reports that organisers are rallying to meet the expected surge in demand for seats to listen to one of Turkey's most successful music artists in modern times.
Meanwhile, Turkey's gutter press continues to court controversy between Turkish singer/songwriter Serdar Ortaç and Tarkan this year.
Alongside Ortaç commenting about Turkey's most well-known export in his recent interviews, now paper Sabah reports that Ortaç and one-time Tarkan backing singer Murat Boz have met up to "talk business".
With Ortaç known as a hit generator for years in the Turkish music industry - especially with songs he penned for Tarkan's close friend Sibel Can and more recently Ajda Pekkan - the gossip being generated seems to suggest a growing rivalry in this area.
Similar reports having been filling gossip space up for months, with the media closely eyeing Tarkan's song writing and producing capabilities ever since the artist attempted to showcase his talents by going solo in the composition stakes for his 2007 record Metamorfoz.
Tarkan has also composed for others, and had co-won a digital award for a song he penned for Can in 2007, and helped Boz breakthrough into the charts earlier the same year with a song he gave his one-time vocalist, although their relationship cooled quickly afterwards.
