Press Snippets: Partying with Tarkan
Summer Beach Parties with Tarkan
It looks like Tarkan will be giving some large beach parties this summer, as along with the previous news that the King of Turkish pop will be performing at the Bianca Beach in Bodrum this August, there is now news from a celebrity portal that he will be appearing at the Miracle Beach Club in Kuşadası.
Miracle Beach is one of the trendiest beach clubs on the Aegean coast, offering a blend of relaxation in the day and a party atmosphere at night - with live concerts from famous artists and DJs throughout the summer season.
Turkish local paper Yeni Asır mentions Tarkan in passing in relation to female club DJs in Turkey.
In an interview with a female club DJ, the reporter remarks that until now Turkey has only heard about Tarkan's ex-girlfriend's sister DJ Berna Öztürk - once affectionately known as Tarkan's sister-in-law by the celeb paparazzi - when talking on the subject.
And one of New York City's most celebrated and in-demand showcase venues for live music and performance in America, Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, is hosting "Ilhan Ersahin's Istanbul Sessions", and Broadway World mentions Tarkan as it announces the 29 June show.
Tarkan's name is mentioned as his regular bass player, Alp Ersönmez, is part of the Istanbul Sessions group.
"The band is rounded out by Alp Ersönmez, the bass player, [who] also plays with Turkish superstar Tarkan," Broadway World writes.
Lover of Classics
It's reported that his friend Tarkan is a primary guest of these private functions, where the exclusively invited guests sing together with the classically trained star.
A report on Ağaoğlu's music evenings with Tarkan had been published in 2009, while the famous pop star had given a two hour concert on a specially constructed stage at the land site of Ağaoğlu's My Towerland complex, to kick-start construction of the Istanbul residential project in 2009.
Waiting for Tarkan
And writing for celebrity gossip portal Ayaklı Gazete, Hüseyin Özkan complains that having come to the middle of summer there is still no sign of Tarkan's 2010 album.
"Tarkan churned one song out, and we're waiting for the rest. It's surprising how such a professional team can produce such uncertain works... Why was such a long time given in between, where are the other songs? You made such a big noise about it, is this it?" he asks.
As a close aide to Sezen Aksu writes that he thinks Tarkan's album is going to print tomorrow (24 June), Demir's response is evasive saying that he is waiting "with excitement and curiosity", while tweeting to other followers that he is waiting just like they are and wants it to be released, too.
